OGV XL recently received its first order for Geo Thermal Steam applications.
Geo Thermal fluids are extracted from underground reservoirs comprising a hot water and steam mix, called ‘brine’. These fluids then go through a separation process. The steam is used to run turbines to create electrical power. The cooled Geo Thermal fluids are then re-injected back into the geo thermal reservoirs.
OGV XL worked closely with Delta Valves New Zealand, to bespoke the valve internals to meet the client’s technical requirements.
The order for 14” 600#, 10”, 8” and 6” wafer lugged type Triple Offset Valves was engineered using OGV XL’s TJ Design. Chrome carbide coatings were required for the solid body Inconel seats due to the high temperature application and abrasive fluid, thereby optimising life of the product seal.
Bruce Logan, Business Development Director of OGV XL, said: “Seat testing confirmed tight shutoff with no recordable leakage which is very encouraging from a non-standard sealing design.
“By utilising our patented Octodrive System we ensured a very strong drive train with no pins, bolting methods or key ways required, the unique design also benefited the end user through reduced torque and actuator sizing”
OGV XL is seeking suitable agents in global locations to further expand its global reach. Please get in touch if interested in manufacturing licence agreements with us. For more details contact OGVXL.Sales@xlg.co.uk
