West White Rose Telecommunications
Atlantic XL awarded West White Rose Telecommunications packages
Atlantic XL submitted a competitive and innovative package of telecommunications solutions for the West White Rose Project and were successful in winning this work with Wood for this exciting new development.
Project Background: Husky is the operator and majority owner of the White Rose field and satellite extensions. The original White Rose field was developed using subsea technology, consisting of three drill centres tied back to a Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. Production is provided by subsea wells in the Southern and Central drill centres while surplus gas is re-injected into the Northern Drill Centre for future extraction. The North Amethyst and South White Rose extensions all produce back to the SeaRose FPSO.
The West White Rose Project will access further resources to the west of the field, using a fixed drilling rig tied back to the existing SeaRose FPSO. First oil is expected in 2022.
The telecommunications packages included within the West White Rose Project are as follows:
- Environmental Monitoring System
- Entertainment System
- Public Address and General Alarm System
- Satellite Communications
- Marine Radio
- Navigational Aids
Atlantic XL spent significant hours reviewing our proposed solutions against client specification and ensuring compliance or identifying potential discrepancies. In addition to the specification, current systems on the FPSO were reviewed to consider efficiencies of communicating between the two facilities. The end solution was a technically and commercially robust set of systems that we are proud to deliver with our strategic partners and will be ready for installation in 2019.
